Philly Officer Hurt in Motorcycle Crash on the Way to State Trooper Funeral

A Philadelphia police officer is recovering after he was injured on I-95 while on his way to a memorial service for a Pennsylvania State Trooper.

The unidentified officer was riding a motorcycle in the northbound lanes of I-95 just below Academy Road early Sunday evening when a large ladder fell off another vehicle nearby.

Another car in front of the officer swerved to avoid hitting the ladder causing the officer's motorcycle to slam into the back of vehicle.

The impact caused the officer to lose control and he was ejected from the bike.

The officer suffered leg and back injuries in the crash. He was taken to the hospital where he is listed in stable condition. He is expected to be treated and released.

Police are investigating the accident. Anyone with information on the crash should call AID at 215-686-3180.

The officer was on his way to the memorial service for Pennsylvania State Trooper David Kedra. Kedra was accidentally shot and killed by another trooper at a suburban Philadelphia gun range training center Tuesday. The service took place at John F. Givnish Funeral Home on Academy Road in Northeast Philadelphia.
