Philly Man Charged in Attack on Airline Crew Member

Cell phone video shows the Port Richmond resident hitting a United Airlines crew member at Dulles International Airport

A Philadelphia man is arrested after he was caught on video attacking an airline crew member at Dulles International Airport outside of Washington, D.C.

Cell phone video from Tuesday shows Donald Gee, 53, of Port Richmond, yelling and cursing at a United Airlines crew member about his delayed flight to Philadelphia.

Then, he threatens to punch him. About two minutes into the video, Gee gets up out of his chair, walks over to the crew member and starts hitting him.

Other crew members held him down until police arrived at the terminal.

NBC10's Nefertiti Jaquez went to the Port Richmond neighborhood where Gee lives and talked with his neighbors. One man says Gee spent the last 6 months working as a cook in Afghanistan and wonders if his job made him snap.

"I can't imagine him doing that. No, I can't.  Unless something happen to him in Afghanistan," said Dan Guardiani.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office says Gee was charged with simple assault. He posted a $2,500 bond and was released.

United Airlines wouldn't talk about the incident, but they did release this statement. "Violence against our employees is unacceptable and we will review this closely. We are fully cooperating with authorities and do not have further comment at this time."
