A violent night in Philadelphia left three dead from shootings and two injured in home invasions.
The bloodshed began around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday when someone shot Justin Anthony Carter, 20, at Emerald And Hazard Streets in the city’s Kensington neighborhood.
Police rushed the Carter to Temple University where doctors pronounced him dead. Investigators say Carter hailed from southwest Philly and was visiting friends in Kensington when he was shot.
Police didn’t release a motive or any information on a possible suspect.
A second shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m. along the 2800 block of N Taney Street in North Philly.
Investigators say that someone shot a 36-year-old man multiple times at close range. The man was rushed to the hospital in very critical condition and later died, according to investigators.
The around 4 a.m., a 22-year-old man was shot in the back and killed during an apparent botched robbery at 8th and Watkins Streets in South Philadelphia.

Investigators say the unidentified victim was walking with a friend when a man on a bike approached and demanded a backpack. A struggle ensued between the three men and at that time the suspect opened fire hitting the victim, officers said.
The suspect ran off on foot leaving his bike behind. Investigators planned to dust the bike for prints and examine the bike for other evidence.
These three shootings came as two home invasions also shook the city, one in South Philadelphia where a man was beaten with a pool cue and the other in Olney where a woman was attacked by masked men.
