Local Company Announces Three New Electrical-Generation Plants

A suburban Philadelphia company has announced plans to build three new natural gas-fired electrical generation plants in northern Pennsylvania.

The Williamsport Sun-Gazette reports that construction on the plant in Bradford County and two plants in Tioga County could begin as early as next year.

Officials said at a Northern Tier Regional Planning and Development Commission meeting Friday that each plant will cost about $20 million.

IMG Midstream, headquartered in Yardley, said nine sites are currently under development, including sites in Susquehanna and Wyoming County.

Company business development manager Matt Tripoli said most companies make power in large centralized plants and transport it long distances to be turned into electricity.

He said IMG plans to produce electricity locally and getting it into the local transmission system.
