Suspect Punches Officer in Face During Shooting Investigation in North Philadelphia

A Philadelphia police officer was punched in the face during a shooting investigation early Tuesday morning.

The incident happened at N. 4th Street and W. Cambria Street in North Philadelphia.

It began when police responded to the location for a shooting. A man was shot in the leg and was taken to a nearby hospital.

According to police, as officers were wrapping up their investigation, two men walked up to them and began yelling.

The argument escalated and a police officer was punched in the face by one of the suspects. That suspect was taken into custody.

It was not immediately known what connection, if any, the two males had to the shooting.

The officer was not seriously injured.

The shooting remains under investigation.
