A Philadelphia Police officer was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a woman.
Police say 35-year-old Deric Lewis was involved in a “domestic altercation” with a woman while he was off-duty back on Dec. 28 in Upper Darby. When Upper Darby Police officers arrived at the scene, Lewis didn’t comply with requests to obtain his identification and acted in a “disorderly manner,” according to investigators.
Lewis was arrested and charged with simple assault and harassment.
Lewis is a 9-year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department assigned to the 19th District. Commissioner Charles Ramsey suspended him for 30 days with the intent to dismiss.
Lewis was also arrested in 2010 and charged with assaulting his girlfriend at the time.
