Philadelphia Mormon Temple Reaches Milestone

In September 2011, the Mormon church broke ground on its new $70 million temple on a block at 17th and Vine streets in Center City and now, four years later, the structure has reached a major milestone.

A gilded Angel Moroni statue was placed atop the highest part of the building.

The statue is a symbol of “the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ,” the church said in a statement. Not every temple has a statue, but its significance lies in that the completion of the project is nearing.
