Rapper Freeway Raises Kidney Failure Awareness After Diagnosis

A month after he was diagnosed, Philly hip hop artist Freeway is doing his part to raise awareness on kidney failure.

The annual event, which is held in city’s nationwide, raises money that supports National Kidney Foundation programs and services for kidney patients, their families and people at risk.

Freeway, born Leslie Pridgen in North Philadelphia, was diagnosed with kidney failure last month and is currently undergoing dialysis three times a week. The rapper has used social media to provide updates on his recovery.
