An investigation is underway after a man raped and robbed a woman in Center City, Sunday morning.

The unidentified man sexually assaulted and robbed a 37-year-old woman in a parking lot on 1200 Latimer Street around 6 a.m. He then fled in a vehicle with an unknown Pennsylvania tag southbound on 12th Street and westbound on Spruce Street.

The woman was taken to Jefferson University Hospital where she is in stable condition.

No arrests have been made. Police have not released a detailed description of the suspect but said he was wearing a black shirt and black pants.

“A little nerve-racking knowing that it happened right around the corner of my job,” Jennifer Miller, who works near the location, told NBC10. “I kind of get off of my train, hold the mace in my hand. I’m looking around. Looking over my shoulder.”
