Philadelphia Museum of Art Evacuates Patrons on Busy Pay-What-You-Wish Sunday

Visitors to the Philadelphia Museum of art evacuated the building after an alarm went off Sunday afternoon causing the building to be cleared for about 20 minutes.

NBC10’s own Lauren Mayk was at the museum when security guards asked everyone to leave the building around 12:15 p.m.

People left the iconic museum on the end of the Ben Franklin Parkway calmly and orderly. [[374412971, C]]

People could be seen gathering on the steps outside until security asked them to move further away. After about 20 minutes, folks were told to line back up and allowed back in the museum.

No word yet on what caused the alarm.

The first Sunday of the month is typically very busy at the Art Museum as visitors pay what they wish to get a look at the impressive collection.
