New Jersey Democratic gubernatorial candidate Phil Murphy had a gross income of $4.6 million in 2016 and paid $1.5 million in federal and state taxes.
Murphy's campaign partially released his 2016 tax returns on Thursday, five days ahead of Tuesday's election.
The release comes as the former Goldman Sachs executive and Obama administration ambassador to Germany leads his Republican rival Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno in polls and fundraising.
Guadagno reported income of $306,000 in 2016 in returns she released in July.
Murphy's campaign released just two pages of returns but says it will make more documents available Friday.
Murphy has promised to raise taxes on income over $1 million dollars to finance other campaign promises.
In 2015 Murphy grossed $7.3 million and paid $2.4 million in taxes.
