Person Dies After Being Hit by Amtrak Train

A person trespassing on Amtrak train tracks was struck and killed near the Norwood SEPTA Station just south of Philadelphia, transportation officials said.

The incident happened around 4 p.m. Sunday near East Hinckley Avenue. The Northeast Regional train was traveling south from Boston to Washington, D.C. when it hit the person, who has not been identified.

No one on board was injured but delays of more than two hours were reported SUnday evening.

Amtrak police officers are working with local Philadelphia police to investigate the incident.
