Pennsylvania Interstate Exit to Honor Slain Trooper

An exit off Interstate 84 will be renamed in memory of a Pennsylvania State Trooper killed in an ambush at his barracks last year.

The Senate voted Monday to rename the Blooming Grove exit in Pike County for Cpl. Bryon Dickson. The House passed the bill last week. Gov. Tom Wolf will sign it, according to his spokesman.

Dickson was killed and Trooper Alex Douglass was critically wounded in the Sept. 12 attack outside the Blooming Grove barracks.

Dickson was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who left behind a wife and two young sons.

Shooting suspect Eric Frein led police on a 48-day manhunt before U.S. marshals captured him near an abandoned airplane hangar. He has pleaded not guilty. Authorities are seeking the death penalty.
