Teen Steals $300 Worth of Booze From Pennsylvania Grocery Store, Leads Officers on Drunken Car Chase: Police

A 19-year-old man has been charged with stealing nearly $300 worth of booze from an eastern Pennsylvania supermarket before leading police on a drunken car chase.

Police in Hanover Township, Lehigh County, say they were called to the Wegmans store around 5:30 p.m. Saturday for a report of retail theft.

Before police arrived, they saw the vehicle driven by the suspect, William Rosenbauer, and tried to stop it.

Instead, police say Rosenbauer sped away, ran a red light and caused other vehicles to have to swerve to miss him. Police say Rosenbauer lost control of the car on the lawn of an insurance agency and ran away, but was caught after a short foot chase.

Online court records don't list an attorney for Rosenbauer who faces drunken driving, retail theft and other charges.
