Pennsylvania officials have asked a judge to move their federal lawsuit against Delaware to the U.S. Supreme Court.
The News Journal of Wilmington reports that Pennsylvania is accusing Delaware of wrongfully seizing more than $10 million in unclaimed money orders.
Delaware argues that federal law allows it to collect unclaimed property from financial services companies incorporated in the state. Pennsylvania, however, argues that federal law requires unclaimed money orders to return to the state where a transaction occurred, instead of the company's state of incorporation.
Pennsylvania sued Delaware in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania in February.
If the transfer is approved, it would be the second lawsuit brought to the U.S. Supreme Court against Delaware by another state.
