Pennsylvania Lawmaker in Considerable Pain After Motorcycle Crash

A Pennsylvania state senator at the forefront of education funding, pension reform and government budget issues is said to be "in a lot of pain'' after a weekend motorcycle accident.

A top aide to Sen. Pat Browne said Monday that the Lehigh County Republican suffered a punctured lung, cracked ribs and a broken foot.

Browne chief of staff Ellen Kern says he's in considerable pain but can talk. She says he doesn't expect to be released from the hospital right away.

Police say the 51-year-old Browne's motorcycle went out of control Saturday afternoon in Allentown.

It's being investigated as a possible case of driving under the influence but he has not been charged.

Browne's license was suspended after drunken-driving crashes in 1995 and 1999.
