A former volunteer hockey coach at a Pennsylvania boarding school has been sentenced to prison after pleading no contest to charges that he molested a player.
Richard Gingrich, of York, was sentenced to serve three to 10 years in prison on Wednesday.
Prosecutors say the abuse started when the boy was 11 and continued until he was 15. He was a hockey player and student at The Milton Hershey School, a free private school established by the founder of the Hershey chocolate company.
Gingrich's attorney said he accepted the plea deal to avoid the possibility of a life sentence. He will also serve 10 years of probation after release and will have to register as a sex offender.
