Lane Closures This Week Along Busy City Avenue for Safety Improvements

The closure impacts lanes in both directions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Drivers along City Avenue (U.S. Route 1) should give themselves some extra time this week as PennDOT crews close lanes to improve safety along the busy roadway that divides Montgomery County and West Philadelphia.

The right lane in both the northbound and southbound directions will be closed from Lancaster Avenue (U.S. Route 30 to 54th Street/Old Lancaster Road between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. From Monday to Friday, said PennDOT.

Motorists looking to get around the lane closures can use parallel roads.

The project is part of a $2.9-million plan – from the Schuylkill Expressway (Interstate 76) to Lancaster Avenue – to improve traffic signals and curb ramps along Route 1, said PennDOT. The project is set to be completed by November 2017.
