Penn State Creamery Extends Break to Improve Freezer

Chill out, Penn State's famous Berkey Creamery is closing for longer than usual this winter, but only so it will be cooler when it reopens.

The Centre Daily Times reports the creamery will be improved with new floors and paint, but the biggest improvement will be increasing the freezer space by about 50 percent.

The famous ice cream outlet closes every year during the main campus winter break. This year, it won't reopen until probably mid-February. That's being targeted because of THON, the student-run dance marathon that raises money to fight juvenile cancer.

The renovations will enable the shop to stock more varieties of ice cream, as well as more milk, cheese and juices.
