Fireworks Shows, Peeps & Mushroom Drops to Ring in 2017

From a mushroom drop in Chester County to a Peeps drop in the Lehigh Valley to fireworks along Penn’s Landing, there are some unique ways to ring in the New Year.

The big event will be along the Delaware River in Philadelphia where nothing will drop but instead fireworks will rise. NBC10 will air the 6 p.m. SugarHouse New Year’s Eve Fireworks high above the Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest. The Midnight fireworks display will also be streamed on NBC10’s Facebook page and you can of course turn out to watch the displays live. [[408804035, C]]

Other spots in Pennsylvania will drop in 2017. In Hersey, a mega Hershey’s Kiss will be dropped. And, in Kennett Square they will be dropping a mega 500-pound mushroom at midnight.

And if you can’t wait for midnight the Please Touch Museum in Fairmount Park is dropping a ball -- not quite as large at the iconic Times Square ball -- at noon and 1 p.m. as part of its Countdown2Noon celebration that allows kids ring in the New Year and still make it home for an afternoon nap. In Bethlehem, the family-friendly Peeps festival includes the dropping of a 200-pound lit-up Peeps chick at 5:15 p.m.

However you ring it in, we hope you have a happy, healthy 2017. [[238904721, C]]
