Two PECO workers are recovering after they suffered burns during a flash fire at an underground substation.
The PECO employee and contractor were working underground at the substation on 23rd and Market streets at 4:48 p.m. Monday when a flash fire occurred.
One of the workers, a 35-year-old man, suffered second and third degree burns to his body. He was taken to the Temple University Burn Unit and is currently in stable condition. The second worker suffered "superficial burns" to his face, according to police.
Officials have not yet revealed the cause of the fire.
