We Cranked it Up

PECO usage highest of the year Tuesday

PECO customers in the Greater Philadelphia region used the most electricity for the year on Tuesday, the second day of that yucky, sticky, sweltering hot phase.

Customers used 152.3 million kilowatt hours of electricity (kwh). The record for electric consumption in one day is 163.3 million kwh back in July 1999.

The good news though, is that we're using less electricity than last year -- about 13-percent less on average during the month of July, according to PECO spokesman Michael Wood. You can always browse through PECO's tips and use the utility's online calculators to help save more more energy (and money!)
