Drink It Up: Yuengling Brewery Is Best at Its ‘Craft:' Says Report

Pennsylvania-based Yuengling's took the top spot in a list of the United States' top craft 50 breweries of 2015 while two other Philly-area breweries made the list. A second group that ranked overall brewing companies – not just the craft beer producers – also ranked the three local companies, putting them in line with huge national breweries like Anheuser-Busch and MillerCoors.

The Brewers Association, which represents small and independent U.S. craft brewers, on Tuesday released its Top 50 U.S. Craft Brewing Companies list, which put Pottsville, Pa.-based D.G. Yuengling and Son at No. 1, based on beer sales volume in 2015.

The brewery's ranking puts it above Boston Beer Co.; Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., of Chico, California; New Belgium Brewing Co., of Fort Collings, Colorado; and Gambrinus of San Antonio, Texas.

Yuengling — which this month will launch its largest marketing campaign in its history — is now classified as a “craft brewery” following a change in the definition in 2014 by The Brewers Association.

Only two other Philadelphia-region breweries made the list... click here to find out which ones.
