The Philadelphia Zoo has created a new app that not only allows guests to do the basics like purchase tickets or plan itineraries, but also allows them to engage with and keep track of animals through the zoo's ever-growing travel and exploration system, Zoo360.
When the zoo launched its original app a few years ago, it was more information-based, including information on its animals and attractions around the zoo, according to Gerald Griffin, director of informational technology.
Its new app, Zoo360insider, has that, too, but it has gone beyond that.
Although technology isn't the primary reason guests come to the zoo, the technology augments the visitor experience, Griffin said.
