EXCLUSIVE: South Jersey Firm Buys MTV's ‘Real World' House

Christopher Aker will tell you Linode, founded in 2003, was the "Cloud before the Cloud was the Cloud," beating the likes of Amazon and Google to a market that's still growing today.

Now Aker's company, which was completely bootstrapped, will establish a headquarters in Philadelphia's Old City neighborhood at 249 Arch St. The Cloud hosting provider launched in Galloway, N.J., but had been temporarily operating from Kings Hall, a Haddonfield coworking space.

Aker plans to hire 50-70 hands over the next couple of years to work in the new Philadelphia office.

It's a 15,000-square-foot, three-story space last owned by convicted felon Michael Yaron. Aker said he tried to buy it from Yaron last year, but ultimately the building foreclosed, and he struck a deal with the subsequent owner Bancorp a few months ago.
