Drexel Aims to “Demystify” Mental Health With New Kiosk

Drexel University recently installed mental health kiosks on its campus — and in two very public spaces, a decision school officials say is a first for a U.S. college.

Paul Furtaw, Drexel's associate director of counseling, said he wanted the kiosk's at the student recreation center and the other in a community health clinic run by the nursing college to help erode any mental health stigma among the university population.

"It’s very visible and we’ve had a couple people say, ‘What do you think you’re doing? You're making people view personal things,’ " Furtaw said. "My stance on that is we’re on the side of demystifying mental health."
