PATCO Riders can Use Credit Cards to Buy Paper Tickets

PATCO passengers can now use credit and debit cards at ticket vending machines for one-way and roundtrip tickets.

Until Wednesday, the machines only accepted cash for paper tickets.

Customers can purchase up to nine one-way or roundtrip tickets at a time. However, they expire after three days.

PATCO General Manager John Rink says fewer people carry cash for routine purchases and the agency had a lot of requests to allow electronic payments.

Commuters were able to use plastic to buy value to Freedom cards.

PATCO operates the rail line between southern New Jersey and Philadelphia.
