Pastor Charged With Murder in Son's Shooting

The gun used in the shooting was legally registered to Caldwell

A Darby pastor who shot his son to death on Christmas Day during a family dispute was charged with his murder Tuesday.

Kirk Caldwell, 44, was charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, criminal homicide, murder and simple assault, for killing his 21-year-old son Jordan Caldwell.

Investigators said the fatal shooting happened around 2 p.m. during a gathering at the family’s home on Ridge Avenue in Darby Borough.

A violent confrontation broke out between Caldwell and his son and a woman, who was staying the home.

Caldwell, the father of eight children, fired a single shot, striking his son in the chest. Jordan Caldwell later died at the hospital shortly afterward, according to investigators.

Caldwell is the pastor of End Time Harvest Ministries for Christ in North Philadelphia.

Caldwell, who also works as a plumber, is known as a “very good man” and “moderate”, according to church members and neighbors.

The gun used in the shooting was legally registered to Caldwell.
