Pastor Accused of Sexually Assaulting Girl

Officials won't say how the two know each other

A Gloucester County pastor is facing sexual assault charges for allegedly abusing an underage girl.

Gregory Woodruff, 61, was arrested Friday for allegedly assaulting the girl several times over the past two years, police said. Authorities will not say how he and the victim knew each other or release the girl's age.

Woodruff only became the pastor of Ewan Methodist Church in Mullica Hill, N.J. a few months ago, parishioners say.

Members of the church were floored to hear of the allegations.

"It's a shock, you know it really is," said parishioner Dean Ripa. "This is like a kick in the gut."

Woodruff, who lives in Gloucester City, Camden County, faces two counts of aggrivated sexual assault, three counts of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. He is being held in the Camden County Jail on $200,000 bail.
