Parx Casino to Open $1.5M Beer Garden

Parx Casino will open its new, $1.5 million beer garden, adding to the property one more amenity aimed at attracting a younger demographic or those who don't gamble — two groups that are the casino industry's main focuses as competition grows.

Bensalem, Pa.-based Parx Casino over the past few months has been focusing on bringing sports betting to the Philadelphia area, accepting its first sports wager earlier this month. The temporary sportsbook is part of a permanent $10 million expansion project.

Its newest project, a $1.5 million indoor-outdoor Parx Beer Garden will open Friday. The 7,600 plus-square-foot beer garden will have 24 rotating craft drafts, 14 wine options, specialty cocktails, a full bar and food from chefs of the casino's eateries, Liberty Bell Gastropub and Oliveto.

It will have a staff of 20 full-time employees.

Craft beer will include brews from local breweries, including Delaware County-based 2SP Brewing Co. and its Becky Beer, which was created for Uptown Beer Garden and Craft Concepts Group.
