Delaware's Department of Transportation is alerting drivers of a major road closure that will impact weekend travel.
I-95 North and Southbound at the Route 202 interchange shut down Friday at 9 p.m.. It won't reopen until 5 a.m. Monday morning.
"Well I mean it is annoying but it is gonna be an improvement that is the idea," said Tim Carrick, of Wilmington.
During the closure, crews will be busy demolishing a bridge ramp connecting I-95 Northbound to Route 202, which is no longer needed. They will also be replacing two beams on the Route 202 Bridge over I-95.
Here are the detour routes suggested by DelDOT:
I-95 Northbound Traffic
- I-95 northbound traffic south of the I-95/U.S. 202 interchange will be directed onto Exit 8 U.S. 202 northbound to West Chester. Traffic will follow northbound U.S. 202, and make a right onto eastbound Naamans Road to the I-95/Naamans interchange to continue north on I-95.
I-95 Southbound Traffic
- I-95 southbound traffic north of the I-95/U.S. 202 interchange will be directed onto Exit 8 U.S. 202 northbound to West Chester. Traffic will then follow U.S. 202, make a right onto Weldin Road, make a right onto Foulk Road, and make a left onto southbound U.S. 202, to the exit ramp to southbound I-95.
U.S. 202 Southbound to I-95 Northbound
- U.S. 202 southbound traffic destined for northbound I-95 will be directed to continue south along U.S. 202, make a left onto Market Street, continue along Market Street (Philadelphia Pike) to Marsh Road, then make a left onto Marsh Road to the I-95 Interchange.
U.S. 202 Northbound to I-95 Southbound
- U.S. 202 northbound traffic destined for southbound I-95 will be directed to continue along U.S. 202 to Weldin Road, make a right onto Weldin Road, make a right onto Foulk Road, then make a left onto U.S. 202 southbound, take exit to I-95 southbound.
