Palin to Stand Side-by-Side With Lonegan

Sarah Palin is slated to join the Republican running for U.S. Senate in New Jersey at a campaign event days before the special election.

The 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate is scheduled to attend a rally for Steve Lonegan's campaign workers at the New Egypt Speedway in Plumsted Township today.

“I am proud to have the opportunity to stand next to a great conservative leader who should have been the Vice President as we go into the final hundred hours til victory on Wednesday,” said Lonegan.

Lonegan describes it as the “largest grassroots campaign event in New Jersey history.”

Palin has said Lonegan's Democratic opponent, Newark Mayor Cory Booker, is out of touch because of his “constant tweeting and trips to Hollywood.” She claims Lonegan leads with “conservative principles.”

Booker has criticized Lonegan's conservative agenda.

Lonegan and Booker are seeking the Senate seat left vacant by the death of Democrat Frank Lautenberg. The two faced off in a final debate on NBC10 and NBC10.com on Wednesday night.

The special election takes on Wednesday.
