Pair Heading to Prison in Stabbing of New Jersey Woman

A man and a woman who pleaded guilty in the killing of a 57-year-old northern New Jersey woman during a robbery are heading to prison.

NJ.com reported a judge sentenced 20-year-old Rakeem Scott and 23-year-old Carline Inginac to 22 years in prison on Tuesday. They had pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter and conspiracy to commit armed robbery in the fatal stabbing of Sandy Yuen.

Prosecutors say Yuen was killed in September 2013 during a robbery in her West Orange home while her granddaughter was at the residence.

Before the sentencing, their defense attorneys asked Superior Court Judge Ronald Wigler to cut a few years off their prison terms.

But Wigler rejected those bids and told the defendants that he sees no reason to show compassion for them.
