PA Man Jailed for Shooting in Argument Over Pet Hermit Crab

An eastern Pennsylvania man has been jailed on charges he fired shots during an argument over a pet hermit crab that belongs to his fiancée's son.

Thirty-two-year-old Mario Maisonet, of Nazareth, was jailed after Sunday's arraignment on charges including aggravated assault.

Nazareth police told Allentown's The Morning Call the shooting happened as Maisonet and his fiancée met her ex-husband outside their home. The ex-husband was dropping off the boy after a weekend visit when police say Maisonet and the other man began arguing about whether the boy could bring the crab, which was in a fish tank, into the home.

Police say Maisonet fired a shot into the front wheel of the father's car, then aimed the gun at the boy's father and his girlfriend.

Online court records don't list an attorney for Maisonet.
