Overnight Lane Restrictions on I-76, I-95

Two busy roads in our area are undergoing major resurfacing projects, leading to overnight lane restrictions.

Resurfacing began Monday night on I-76 in Philadelphia and I-95 in Tinicum Township, Delaware County for milling and paving. PennDOT’s contractor is resurfacing the following deteriorated sections of I-95 and I-76 through funding from Act 89, Pennsylvania’s new transportation plan:

  • I-95 between the Girard Point Bridge and Route 420 (Wanamaker Avenue) Interchange in Philadelphia and Tinicum Township, Delaware County
  • Southbound I-95 from just south of the Interstate 476 Interchange to the Route 322 (Conchester Highway) Interchange in the City of Chester, Upland Borough and Chester Township, Delaware County; and
  • I-76 between Spring Garden Street and 30th Street, and between Grays Ferry Avenue and Passyunk Avenue

Due to the resurfacing, lane restrictions are in place from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.  each night until August 1 at the following locations:

  • I-76 lane closures in both directions between Spring Garden Street and 30th Street
  • I-76 lane closures in both directions between the Oregon Avenue/Passyunk Avenue and Grays Ferry Avenue
  • I-95 lane closures in both directions from the Philadelphia County line to just north of the Route 420 (Wanamaker Avenue) Interchange in Delaware County.

Both projects cost a total of $5,205,450 and are financed 100% through state funds.
