One-Of-A-Kind Painted Mushroom Stolen From Chester County Sidewalk

D. Lynn Sinclair just wants her mushroom back, but this is no ordinary mushroom. The 108-pound concrete, elaborately painted statue of a mushroom is one-of-a-kind and was on display outside Sinclair's cafe in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania when she says someone swiped it.

The piece of art, worth an estimate $1,000 is one of eight painted mushrooms on display throughout the quaint Chester County town ahead of the annual Mushroom Festival, schedule for September 11-13.

Sinclair sponsored the mushroom by artist Mindy Kempista called "Sunrise to Sunset," which was to be auctioned off at the festival.

Sinclair said the mushroom disappeared  from outside Sinclair's Sunrise Cafe along East State Street where she said it was placed just outside the door.

While it may have been young pranksters who got away with the mushroom, Sinclair has filed a police report.

However, Sinclair said if the mushroom is returned, there would be no questions asked.
