2 Cops Hurt While Chasing Scissors-Wielding Suspect

It takes at least a dozen cops, taser to subdue shoplifting suspect

Police probably got more than they bargained for Tuesday night when they responded to a report of a man using scissors to allegedly try and swipe electronics from a Northeast Philly Target.

The scissors-wielding suspect ran out of the store when police arrived on the 2100 block of Bleigh Avenue, according to authorities.

Cops chased the suspect on foot, they said.

Once police caught up to alleged shoplifter around the corner from the store, he reportedly may have lunged at an officer with the scissors.

It took at least a dozen officers to eventually subdue the raging suspect.

During the melee, a cop was knocked out cold after being struck in the head above the eye, according to authorities.

Another officer possibly suffered a broken finger.

Both officers were transported to Einstein Hospital and were expected to be OK, police said.

The suspect was tasered multiple times before he gave up, police said. He was taken to Nazareth Hospital where his condition was unknown.
