Office Manager Sentenced for Embezzling $1 Million to Live “Comfortable Lifestyle”

The former office manager of a medical practice in Dover has been sentenced to nearly 4 years in prison for embezzling more than $1 million.

Pamela Poore, 50, used the money to pay for her son's wedding reception, buy expensive clothes, pay off a car loan and according to court documents, live a "comfortable lifestyle."

Poore was responsible for daily accounting tasks and making cash deposits for Internal Medicine of Dover. Prosecutors say she misappropriated funds for her own use by writing unauthorized checks and failing to make cash deposits.

According to The News Journal of Wilmington, prosecutors say Poore used the embezzled money to buy expensive clothes, rent a beach house in Bethany Beach, pay off a car loan and host a wedding reception for her son.

A federal judge in Wilmington also ordered Poore of Smyrna to pay restitution.

Poore pleaded guilty to mail fraud in November.
