Woman Stabbed, Killed

A bloody 24 hours in Philadelphia continued Wednesday morning as a woman was stabbed to death.

Philadelphia Police say the woman was stabbed once in the shoulder and pronounced dead around 10:10 a.m. inside an apartment at Oak Lane Court on the 1600 block of W Chelten Avenue in the city’s West Oak Lane neighborhood.

Her killing comes just hours after another woman, an innocent bystander, was shot and killed during a shootout in Kensington and a man, 18, was shot and killed while riding his bike in West Philadelphia.

Another six people were hurt overnight, one man likely paralyzed from the neck down after being hit in the face.

"There are times when you have these outbreaks of violence, it’s very unfortunate," Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey said when asked about the sudden uptick in homicides.

Going into Wednesday there were 60 homicides in Philly, down 32 from the same date last year.
