Northeast Philly Sunoco Sells $1 Million Winning Powerball Ticket

A Northeast Philadelphia gas station sold a winning Powerball ticket that will make its owner a millionaire in the New Year, officials announced Thursday.

The Sunoco on Cottman Avenue near Algon, in the Castor neighborhood, sold the winning Powerball ticket worth $1 million, for the Wednesday drawing. The winning ticket, officials said, matched all five white balls -- 12-36-38-54-61 -- but not the red Powerball (22). The Sunoco gets a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

On Thursday, lottery officials said they were waiting for the winner of that prize and another $150,000 Power Play prize in Erie County to come forward.

Wednesday night's Powerball drawing ended 2015 on a high note for nearly 96,000 winners, officials said.
