NJ Woman Sentenced Nine Years in Fatal Xanax-Influenced Crash

The Cape May County prosecutor's office says Jillian Elliott was driving in Dennis Township in June 2016 when her 2000 Ford Expedition crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2007 Toyota 4Runner.

A southern New Jersey woman has been sentenced to nine years in prison for causing a fatal automobile crash while under the influence of the drug Xanax.

The Cape May County prosecutor's office says Jillian Elliott was driving in Dennis Township in June 2016 when her 2000 Ford Expedition crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2007 Toyota 4Runner.

Karen Davies, a 71-year-old Malvern, Pennsylvania woman who was a passenger in the 4Runner, died as a result of her injuries.

The 34-year-old Elliott, of Woodbine, was charged with aggravated manslaughter.
