State Trooper's Brother Denies Assault Charge in Beer Bottle Attack

The brother of a suspended New Jersey state trooper has pleaded not guilty in an alleged November 2014 beer bottle attack outside MetLife Stadium that left a New York man with a broken nose and other injuries.

The Record reports Frederick Hodge, of Red Bank, pleaded not guilty on Monday to aggravated assault.

His lawyer says Hodge will apply for a pretrial intervention program. Hodge could have the charge removed from his record if he successfully completes the program.

A grand jury has determined there wasn't enough evidence to indict Hodge's brother, suspended trooper Steven Hodge, in the incident, which followed a New York Giants game.

His attorney says Steven Hodge — who is named in a related civil lawsuit — should be reinstated.
