NJ OKs Multi-State Slot Jackpots

New Jersey casino regulators have approved a multi-state slots system designed to result in larger jackpots.

The state's Gaming Enforcement Division says it has authorized a wide-area progressive slots jackpot system involving New Jersey and other jurisdictions, although other participants were not immediately announced.

International Game Technology will operate the system.

David Rebuck, director of the gaming enforcement division, says the system should create Powerball-type slots jackpots. It's an initiative that New Jersey has been working on for several years.

It comes as the state has recently begun Internet gambling.
