An Irvington man has been charged with assaulting his girlfriend and her three-year-old son in Morris County.
County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp says Maurice Pearson faces two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of child endangerment and hindering.
Knapp and Montville Township police say the assault occurred at the Knights Inn on Route 46 in the Pine Brook area of the township.
The three-year-old remained at a hospital Saturday with serious injuries. The boy's mother was examined at the hospital and released.
Pearson was being held in Morris County in lieu of $100,000 bail with no 10 percent option.
It wasn't immediately known if he had retained an attorney.
