N.J. Beauty Queen and Mom Busted

Ashley Fuhrmeister earned her 15 minutes of fame as Miss North Wildwood in 2007.

But for beauty queens, a brush with the law has a way out outliving all the accolades.

Ashley and her mom have been busted by the Secret Service and North Wildwood police, accused of making their own money.

Detectives say they printed fake $50 bills and used them at two local stores, including the Wawa on New Jersey Ave. in N. Wildwood.

21-year old Ashley and  her mom, 44-year old Kelly Nowacky are charged with having forgery equipment, forgery and conspiracy to commit forgery.

A third suspect, John Laughlin of Belleplain, N.J. faces similar charges.

Nowacky and Laughllin were both sent to the Cape May County jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.

Fuhrmeister was charged and released on her own recognizance.
