A brother allegedly led an acquaintance into the path of his sibling, who was waiting with a knife to rob the man.
Police said they arrested 21-year-old Daquan Stevenson and issued an arrest warrant for 24-year-old Roland Stevenson for the knifepoint robbery that took place on O'Daniel Avenue in Newark around 12:15 p.m. Tuesday.
After walking along O'Daniel Avenue, the victim and one of the suspects rounded the corner of a building and the second suspect jumped out with a knife, authorities said.
The victim grabbed the knife to prevent the suspect from stabbing him, causing a serious injury to his hand, investigators said.
As the man tried to fend off one brother, the other sibling -- who was just walking with the man -- joined in, stealing cash and jewelry, police said.
Responding officers located Daquan at his home, but were unable to track down Roland. Both men face robbery, assault and other related charges.
Anyone with information about this incident or Roland's whereabouts is urged to contact Newark Police Detective James Skinner at 302-366-7100 ext. 3135.
