New Stretch of Trail Opens

A portion of the Chester Valley Trail that runs through Chester and Montgomery counties is now open.

The trail can now take bikers all the way from Iron Lake Boulevard behind Main Street at Exton Shopping Center all the way to King of Prussia.

The new 1.5 mile stretch runs along Lincoln Highway, crossing route 100 dead ends a few yards from the Exton Walmart.

Several signaled cross-walks were added to the trail including one at Ship Road.

As of 11 a.m. Thursday there was still a fence with “No Trespassing” signs set up at Exton Park Trailhead blocking off the trail but that fence came down shortly after.

The official ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place Thursday, September 25 at 10:30 at the Trailhead and will include a brief ceremony with some remarks from The Chester County Board of Commissioners, The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Secretary Ellen Ferretti

The ribbon-cutting will also open up the playground and new parking spaces at the Trailhead.

As of now the trail dead-ends just beyond the Walmart but there are plans to connect the trail to the Struble Trail in Downingtown in the near future.
