New Jersey police say a New Jersey teenager slammed into an apartment building and three gas meters when she hit the accelerator instead of the brake during a driving lesson with her father.
The 16-year-old who had just received her learners' permit when she was getting a lesson after 10 p.m. Thursday night in Woodbridge.
Authorities tell the Home News Tribune that she stepped on the wrong pedal and crashed into the wall of an apartment building.
She also hit three gas meters, causing natural gas leaks.
About 40 residents of 12 apartments were evacuated.
No one was injured and residents were expected to be able to return home soon by late Friday.
