Funeral Services Scheduled For New Jersey State Trooper Killed in Crash

Funeral services have been scheduled for a state trooper killed this week when his cruiser struck an electric utility pole while he was responding to a domestic dispute in rural southern New Jersey.

The viewing for 30-year-old Eli McCarson will be held Wednesday morning in Pfleeger Concert hall at Rowan University in Glassboro. The funeral will follow there at noon.

McCarson was driving Thursday on Quinton-Alloway Road in Quinton Township when his car went off the right side of the road and hit the utility pole. He was trapped in the car while rescuers opened the jammed doors, and he died a short time later at a hospital.

The 30-year-old trooper had been married in September. He graduated from the academy in February and worked out of the Woodstown Station.
