Chris Christie's Popularity in New Jersey Dips to New Low: Poll

More registered voters surveyed in New Jersey are dissatisfied than ever with Gov. Chris Christie.

A Rutgers-Eagleton Poll released Thursday as Christie participates in the first Republican presidential primate debate shows just 30 percent of the registered voters polled have a favorable opinion of the governor.

Fifty-nine percent have an unfavorable opinion, down 11 points since April.

Christie's overall job approval hit a new low at 37 percent compared to 59 percent who disapprove of how he's going his job.

Voters who dislike the governor cite his character, attitude and image. Those who like Christie praise his honesty and straightforwardness.

The statewide poll of 757 registered voters has a sampling error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
